Building Our Future Campaign

The Building Our Future Campaign is a three-year, $5 million investment campaign designed to do more than construct housing; it is built to sustain it.

This campaign supports the full lifecycle of workforce housing by funding three essential pillars:

  1.  Housing and site development: Acquiring, renovating, and developing homes that serve the region’s workforce.

  2. Operational readiness and compliance: Ensuring the systems, policies, and oversight required for safe, effective, and compliant operations from day one.

  3. Organizational capacity for long-term stewardship: Strengthening the organization so these homes remain affordable, well-managed, and mission-aligned for decades.

Why This Matters
Permanent affordability protects communities and donor investment. Housing without stewardship fails. Housing with long-term planning becomes a lasting community asset.

The Impact
   •    Keeps essential workers in the communities they serve
   •    Strengthens local economies and services
   •    Preserves economic diversity
   •    Creates permanent, attainable housing, not short-term fixes

The Role of Philanthropy
Philanthropic investment makes permanent workforce housing possible. By supporting the Building Our Future Campaign, donors and foundations help ensure that housing built today remains strong, affordable, and locally stewarded tomorrow.

Bottom Line
Building Our Future is not about complexity.
It is about doing workforce housing right.

The median home price in Knox County ($450,000-$460,000 in mid-2025) is out of reach for a large portion of the local workforce.
~
There is a significant shortage of affordable housing units. A 2023 study estimated that Knox County needs over 2,000 new homes by 2030 to address current needs and projected population growth.
