About MCRHT

OUR MISSION

Developing permanent year-round workforce housing in Knox County and neighboring towns.

OUR VISION

Vibrant communities with economically diverse residents who want to live, work, and retire in the region.

Blueprint

What is the Midcoast Regional Housing Trust?

MCRHT acquires land and develops attainable housing where median-income households can rent or buy homes they can afford.

How MCRHT Works

MCRHT offers a community-based system to keep homes attainable in the long term. Grants, donations, and land covenants enable the Trust to help lower the cost of rental apartments and homes for purchase so working households can afford to live in them.

When a homeowner decides to sell, tools like deed restrictions or land leases ensure the house remains available for the next buyer, not just the first one. In this way, every investment continues to benefit families for generations to come.

MCRHT is part of a growing network of Maine housing trusts.
We are local people meeting local needs.

Whether through renting or selling, a housing trust creates stable, affordable options that enable residents to put down roots, build savings, and stay in the community they serve.
